Basenote Bitch

I need not introduce one of the greatest collectors of both men and luxury—the late and iconic Elizabeth Taylor. Many say being in her presence at the peak of her career was like being in a mist of complete beauty and perfection. Violet eyes consuming and captivating everyone around her. However, I admire Taylor throughout her ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ because this loveable bitch was incredibly accident prone and always at the center of a scandal. In my mind these extremes are what make all great starlets. Think about how boring someone like Jennifer Lawrence is—sorry not sorry! Also, unpopular opinion: I think Lindsay Lohan was expertly cast to play Taylor in the tragic Lifetime adaptation of her life Liz and Dick. I digress.

Elizabeth Taylor’s knowledge and love for a champagne lifestyle are also why I think her fragrances were a smashing success. She was the *first* mainstream celebrity to create a fragrance, and also the first to make a second feminine fragrance release. White Diamonds was that second release and went on to be one of the biggest perfume hits of all time. When she passed away after a lifetime of movies and an incredible collection of jewelry—her riches mainly consisted of the combined income of all her fragrance lines. No big deal, she’s just the original Britney, bitch! The scent itself isn’t a groundbreaking creation—but it’s also not half bad. It's a very inviting, buoyant and optimistic fragrance. Just like Taylor herself.

Notes include aldehydes, lily, neroli, orange and bergamot; middle notes are Egyptian tuberose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, narcissus, carnation, Italian orris root, Turkish rose and cinnamon; base notes are amber, musk, sandalwood, oakmoss and patchouli. In real life you will smell like the fact that Elizabeth Taylor is a literal and awarded Dame.
